BAKU SUMMER ENERGY SCHOOL (BSES) is an annual two-week certificate program of the Caspian Center forEnergy and Environment (CCEE) of ADA University held in July in partnership with the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). It brings together world-renowned scholars, academicians and policy makers to examine and gain a better understanding of global energy and environment issues and their practical application.

The Baku Summer Energy School studies a wide range of issues:
• Fundamentals of Energy
• Energy Law
• Energy Economics
• Geopolitics of Energy
• Environmental Issues
• Strategic Management
A special focus of the program is on the Caspian Basin, including regional pipeline network development, geopolitics of the Caspian and its legal status, and the strategic outlook of SOCAR .As well as this, to mark the 10th anniversary of the program successful completion of the BSES will constitute completion of the first module of the joint ADA University-Graduate School of Geneva Executive Master of Arts (EMA) Degree in Energy Studies.
Upon completion of the program, participants are issued a certificate signed by the Rector of ADA University and the President of State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic.
The program provides a balanced approach in studying energy and the environment. BSES instructors and speakers are leading national and international experts from academia, public and private sectors:
World renowned scholars in the field of energy and environment
, such as: University of Oxford, Princeton University, Sciences‐Po, Russian Academy of Sciences, Total Professors Association, ADA University
• Ministers and heads of governmental agencies, such as: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Energy, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Head of the State Oil Fund (SOFAZ), etc.
• Executives of (oil) companies such as SOCAR, TAP, BP, Exxon, TOTAL, Statoil, LUKOIL, etc.
While learning at the Baku Summer Energy School, participants will also enjoy outstanding recreational opportunities, including swimming in the legendary Caspian Sea. Living in downtown Baku provides excellent opportunities for night life, shopping, dining and sightseeing.

Application process is fast, free and secured. Incomplete applications, as well as applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Applicants will be able to track their admission status via the application system.
During the application process, you will be required to provide a) educational background b) employment history
c) academic awards d) extracurricular activities f) scholarship letter. Scholarship Letter is only required for applicants applying for scholarship. Also, you will need to provide a recent photo (size: 5 x 5 cm) and your ID (passport).
Tuition fee for the 2016 Baku Summer Energy School is 2500 EURO. The fee includes teaching materials, local transportation and extra-curricular activities, including field trips, luncheons and a welcome reception. Every year, CCEE grants a limited number of partial tuition scholarships to outstanding participants onTHE BASIS OF the financial need. Participants must cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
At the participant's will, he/she can stay at a hotel located in the city center, next to the university or on the shore of the Caspian Sea. ADA enjoys close relationship with a great number of various hotels, and has excellent corporate rates for BSES participants.
All applications received by the deadline will be reviewed by the Selection Committee of the CCEE. Competition is very tough, as class is limited to 40 participants only, while the number of applicants is much higher. Admission decisions will be based on a combination of proven interest, academic merit and professional experience in theenergy and environment related fields. A limited number of partial tuition scholarships will be provided to outstanding participants on the basis of the financial need. Preference will be given to self-funded applicants.
